POP/POP3
POP, or post office protocol, is the name of a method for retrieving emailelectronic mail from the Internet, which functions as a client/server protocol. Email is stored on a mail server until a user connects to the server with an email client (program) to retrieve the email. Whereas SMTP is the protocol commonly used for sending mail, POP is the method commonly used for retrieving mail. POP3 is the most recent version of post office protocol.
